Friend photos can handle more movement and humor than a formal portrait, but the strongest set still needs structure. Give each frame a job: establish the group, create interaction, add chaos, then finish with a frame you would actually want to keep.

For a square grid, think of the four images as equally important rather than top-to-bottom story beats. Try: clean group portrait, everyone looks in a different direction, one synchronized gesture, and a final candid laugh or exaggerated expression.

Use levels instead of squeezing everyone into one line
For three or more people, change shoulder height or lean direction so every face has space. One person can sit or lean forward while others stay slightly behind, as long as no one is hidden.
